Advanced machining capabilities in solid material: The powerful evolution with digital process support for heavy-duty jig and tool manufacturing.

With the Alzmetall AX 3/S, we are opting for the more powerful expansion stage of the proven AX series in mechanical manufacturing. While the smaller sister machine AX 2/S primarily designed for maximum flexibility with medium drilling diameters, the AX 3/S noticeably pushes the technological boundaries. Both in terms of axial thrust and the maximum achievable workpiece dimensions and digital process monitoring.

Technical Differentiation from Model AX 2/S:

  • Significantly increased performance profile: The machine increases the drilling capacity in steel (E 335) from 23 mm (model AX 2/S) to 40 mm in full drilling. When threading, the system handles dimensions up to M 24 (instead of M 14/M 20 on the smaller model), which qualifies it for heavy mechanical engineering components.
  • Extended spindle stroke and dimensioning: With a spindle stroke of 120 mm and a more massive column construction (115 mm column diameter), the system offers significant mechanical reserves. It absorbs the massively increasing torsional and axial forces vibration-free.
  • Enlarged machine table The usable table surface grows significantly to 515 x 360 mm and features two precise T-slots (10-inch spacing), making it easy to securely clamp heavy machine vises and large special constructions.

Constructive core features and functional components:

  • Ergonomic design and occupational safety: The machine, designed in the typical white and dark blue industrial style, features a clearly visible blue command sign („Wear eye protection“) on the drill head, reminding the operator of the safety guidelines during chip ejection.
  • Central control panel: Directly below the drill head is the primary control unit with robust switches for selecting basic functions, as well as a prominent, easily accessible red emergency stop button for immediate mechanical spindle interruption in case of danger.
  • Integrated threading mechanism Through the electromechanical contactor control, the spindle's rotation direction is automatically reversed from clockwise to counterclockwise upon reaching the preset drilling depth. This ensures short cycle times and maximum flank accuracy when cutting internal threads.

My current office used to be my nursery, as I grew up in the family business. After training as a tool mechanic and studying industrial engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering, I combine a passion for technology with a practical approach and develop sheet metal prototypes for the automotive and aerospace industries together with our team.
